the beauty of flint is you dont have to be an expert knapper to create a nice cutting edge,its a natural blade,whenit was discovered the guy didnt sit down and knap a perfect blade, that came as man evolved into people who knew that a knapped blade would be easier to attach a handle to, like any industrial process it evolved into what flint knappers use today.

the northen lakes here are loaded with flint, i never new a certen stone was flint till i broke it messin round, they look like a reguler stone till u break one appart. slate can make a sharp tool aswell
